Making fall a season to remember 🪡 🎃

Published over 2 years ago • 1 min read

If you've been reading The Stitch over the past month, you'll know I am so 👏 ready 👏 for 👏 fall.

I love cooler weather and don't mind the rain that is fall in the Pacific Northwest. So with the autumnal equinox on September 22, I'm focusing on fall this week.

Scroll down for spooky cross stitch, oodles of appropriately themed patterns, and an easy quilt inspired by the night sky.

Dried leaf with crocheted thread around it

There's few things more satisfying than the sound of crunching fall leaves. They are so brittle, which is why I'm so fascinated by the work of Susanna Bauer. She tames their fragile structure and adds delicate crochet to them.

Embroidery pattern with flowers and coffin

Florals and Floss has created a pretty pattern that's also a bit macabre. The gothic rose design is actually two patterns in one. One features a coffin outline while the other is just the flowers—perfect for if Halloween isn't your thing.

This pattern is part of my 30 fall and Halloween embroidery patterns list.

Decorative house filled with cross stitched portraits of the Addams Family

Here's a creative use of cross stitch. Lindsay Swearingen of Tusk and Cardinal filled this house with the Addams Family! If you'd like to try your hand at her type of "creepy cross stitch," she has several patterns available for download.

Crochet sweater with skulls down the length of it

Just in time for the season is this Sally Skulls sweater by Amber of Divine Debris. The pattern is now available on Ravelry.

Stitch for Yourself

💀 Remember, I've compiled a list of 30 fall and Halloween patterns!

🍂 This design reminds me of those stunning drone shots you see of trees full of autumn leaves that are divided by winding roads. There's a beautiful abstraction in this piece.

🌱 "Everything becomes new again." Reassuring words in this kit.

🐰 Take a walk in this cute forest... with your needle and thread.

🌙 Cozy up in this beautiful NightSky quilt. The pattern is intended for a beginner!

👗Want a dress that's easy to throw on but makes you feel put together? I nominate the Poppy wrap dress. It's another pattern designed to be "super easy for novice sewers."
